Montana Political Gun Group Endorses Ron Paul for President

MISSOULA, MT - The Montana Shooting Sports Association (MSSA) announced today that it has endorsed Congressman Ron Paul to be nominated as the Republican candidate for President of the United States. Ron Paul has long served in the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas. Congressman Paul stunned many political observers this past Monday by raising $4.2 million in campaign donations from small donors in one 24-hour period.

MSSA president Gary Marbut commented, "Ron Paul has been a consistent and ardent supporter of the rights of gun owners for 30 years. We commend him to all thoughtful and concerned gun owners." Marbut continued, "Several of the announced candidates for President have freshly-minted, made-for-campaign positions on gun rights that are simply not consistent with their track records. This is not true of Dr. Paul. He is the real deal. Ron Paul has a long history of being four square in support of the right to keep and bear arms."

MSSA is the primary political action organization for gun owners and hunters in Montana, having achieved the passage of over 40 pieces of pro-gun and pro-hunting legislation before the Montana Legislature in the past 20 years. This includes the decade-long but popular and successful effort to amend the right to hunt and fish into the Montana Constitution, and Montana's current concealed weapon permit law.

In its endorsement letter to Congressman Paul, MSSA encouraged gun rights groups across the U.S. and others concerned about individual liberty, to join the Ron Paul groundswell (called the "Ron Paul Revolution") that is sweeping the U.S.

Congressman Paul's efforts to assert the constitutional rights of gun owners are too numerous to list here, but a summary of recent support is available at:

why no press on this endorsement

I have not seen any press on the MSSA endorsement - at least in the Helena area. We promoted it heavy at the gun show last weekend in Helena -
